A Scottish social media influencer who specialised in tarot card reading has suddenly told her one million followers she’s shutting down her site and throwing away her cards to follow Jesus.
The creator of the site called Alex Reads Tarot announced she had deleted all her Tarot-themed content and would not be producing any more for her hundreds of thousands of fans on TikTok and Instagram.
The move has already cost her tens of thousands of followers.
“I don’t know exactly what comes next for me, but what I do know is that Jesus Christ has saved my life, and I can no longer ignore that reality,” she posted.
NO REGRETS ABOUT GIVING UP HER OCCULT BUSINESS
The TikTok celebrity explained to her viewers that a lengthy “spiritual journey” had carried her to this point.
She admitted her occult work “has become a huge part of my life” that has “connected her with incredible people all across the world.”
“This is what makes this so difficult,” she added.
“But, over the past nearly year, something has begun to change in me on my journey.”
“I noticed that, as my faith grew, I began to find myself wrestling with questions that I couldn’t quite ignore.”
HER GRADUAL SHIFT IN FAITH COULDN’T BE IGNORED ANYMORE
‘Alex’ revealed said her shift in faith has been “gradual,” rather than an overnight awakening.
“What started feeling as something that I couldn’t quite explain began to grow into something that I couldn’t quite ignore anymore.”
“If you told me a year ago I’d be making this video, I probably wouldn’t have believed you.”
“But one thing that I’ve come to realise is that life can gently shift in ways that we don’t always see coming.”
HER ACCOUNT AND SOCIAL MEDIA HANDLES HAVE BEEN CHANGED
“I know that some people may find this decision surprising — and some people may wonder how I can be saying this after spending years of doing the work that I’ve done — but all I can do is be honest,” she explained.
‘Alex’ told her followers the announcement video — which has been viewed more than two million times — would be her final post on social media.
“I’m not going to be creating any more tarot content. And, once this account is gone, I will not be returning.”
She farewelled her followers by saying: “So, thank you for being a part of this chapter of my life, and I genuinely wish every single one of you the best with what comes next.”
She then changed her social media handles on TikTok and Instagram from @yourfiresignbestie to @alexinthe ordinary.
NEW ACCOUNT WILL FOCUS ON HER NEW FOUND FAITH
Her new account will be for people who are interested in following her for “conversations about Scripture” and “whatever the Lord calls for me to share.”
“I can’t preempt it because I’m not worrying about tomorrow.”
“We don’t worry about tomorrow. We focus on where our feet are now on this walk.”
REACTION TO ‘ALEX’ GIVING UP THE OCCULT FOR JESUS
While many Christians have been supportive of Alex’s newly professed faith, some within the occult community have been highly critical of her decision to dedicate her life to Jesus.
