The impact of Christian leadership lies in its capacity to demonstrate the compassionate and selfless leadership exemplified by Jesus Himself. His example shapes our Christian perspective on what it requires to be an authentic leader.
A good leader is someone who can cast a vision and lift the spirits of others. Then take them to a new level of activity within the Kingdom of God. Staying aligned with the Biblical model of leadership should always be at the forefront of our decision-making.
The Impact of Christian Leadership
On this episode of Faith and the Future, Dr Kameel Majdali teaches us that the best leaders engage and inspire their stakeholders, allowing them to play an integral role in bringing the vision to fruition.
‘We have a commission from Christ to make disciples of all nations,’ says Kameel. ‘It is incumbent on us to recognise the changes that have occurred in society. Then of course we need to know how to adapt this timeless, priceless, life-changing world-transforming gospel message so that it resonates and take root in the hearts of people today. That’s not just good leadership. It is the wisdom of God.’
Kameel believes that we need to be in sync with God, partnering with Him to share to good news of the gospel. But if we think we can succeed at this on our own, we are sadly mistaken. ‘Jesus is the one who is going before us and making our burden light,’ he says. ‘We will have far more fruitfulness if we depend on Him than if we try and do things in our own strength.’
Position of Influence
Many of us mistakenly believe that we are not leaders, or that leadership doesn’t matter to us on a personal level. But when we talk about the functions of leadership, the position of influence belongs to every believer. And we all have an opportunity to influence those around us, whether it be our family, the local church or the broader community.
‘We believe in the message of the Gospel,’ says Kameel. ‘And we know it is the power of God and salvation to all who believe. We can see the beneficial effects even for people who are not yet believers because of the higher quality of life, the integrity and the blessing of God that is attracted.’
‘Because we believe the message, that should generate more passion. Passion is very contagious and can bring greater acceptance of the message. So let’s get fired up to influence people for the cause of Christ.’
