Christian leader, commentator, public speaker, preacher and visionary Martyn Iles has a new ministry venture called At the Crux.
He says it aims to bring the light of Scripture and the power of the Cross to the central issues of life, culture and faith.
The former Executive CEO of Answers in Genesis and Managing Director at the Australian Christian Lobby has spent the last year or so working on this venture.
His vision is to preach the Word of God and to build something technologically revolutionary and globally accessible for Christian education.
Although he is primarily based in Australia, Martyn Iles explained his plans to Vision Radio’s 20Twenty program from Chicago as he is currently working on the project in the US.
AT THE CRUX: PREACHING AND CONTENT
He explained some of his team are based in America. “There’s a group of us and At The Crux is the name of the entity”
“It’s really dedicated to two main things, preaching and projects.”
“On the preaching and content side, there’s been an awful lot of division and fighting among online influencers lately.”
“They’re sort of battling it out for subscribers and views and there’s political schisms on the right and the left.”
“People are very worried that the right is fracturing in the US and there’s all these voices ever since Charlie Kirk died, from this Nick Fuentes guy to Candace Owens and the conspiracy theories to the traditionalists like Ben Shapiro.”
NEW MINISTRY’S MAXIM: “PREACH THE WORD”
“I just remember whenever trouble broke out in church when I was growing up, this one elder used to speak in three word maxims.”
“And the one he would repeat over and over again in a crisis was “Preach The Word.”
“I realised that In such times, you can actually raise up God’s chosen instrument of power, which is the word of God, the sword of the spirit, the only offensive weapon in the armour of God. “
“And when you preach that and proclaim that into any chaos, into any trouble, into any era or generation, you will see fruit.”
“THIS INFLUENCER GENERATION NEEDS TO HEAR THE WORD”
“The lost will be found, the found will be sanctified, and God’s work will go on God’s way.”
“That’s what this influencer generation needs.”
“We need to bring the Word back into the centre of whatever the cultural conversation may be at the time.”

AT THE CRUX: THE EDUCATION PROJECT
“The second part of the ministry is the projects. The particular one we’re now working on is called Proto.”
“It is something like a digital education tool for teachers, for home educators, for families.”
“The idea is that we would be able to provide something that gives a really strong Christian education and grounding to children in a way that is really technologically advanced and takes care of all the heavy lifting that parents in the home education movement currently have to do.”
“It will create the resources they need to teach their child. It will put together the syllabus. It will give them a teaching calendar.”
“It will make it as simple as possible for parents, but it’s a great tool for teachers as well.”
“PROTO DREAM IS TO CREATE A GENERATION OF OVERCOMERS”
“Down the line we’ll make a version just for the kids. So it’ll teach them directly great Christian stuff.”
“The dream with the Proto project is that we would create a generation of overcomers.”
“Revelation talks about the fact that Christ asks us to overcome or to conquer the world.”
“Those are people who stand firm, unmoved in faith to the end with Christ and prevail over the world which is Satan’s system.”
“STRONG,ROBUST AND RELEVANT EDUCATION”
“It’ll be a strong, robust and relevant Christian education.”
“We’re working on all the technical bells and whistles for that. We’d love to see it come together next year.”
“Crux really means two things. It is Latin for cross, and we often use it in our speech today to refer to the crux of the matter or the core of the issue, the defining point of any matter.”
“If you get to the crux of an issue, it means you really understand it. And so it’s a promise of clarity.”
“THE CRUX IS THE CROSS WHERE ALL OF GOD’S PLANS ARE RESOLVED”
“But also the crux is the cross. And of course, the cross is the defining matter, the defining point of all history, of all reality.”
“It is in the cross of Christ that God’s plan is certain and is realised.”
“It is in the cross that all of God’s plans for all of time are resolved.”
“I was in the public eye for a long time. I was in the political world, and something that I was frustrated about in those days was that I didn’t feel like I got to speak about the cross enough.”

WHERE THE AT THE CRUX MINISTRY STANDS RIGHT NOW
“The situation at the moment is that I live in Australia and I visit the USA where there’s an operational side to what we’re doing.”
“We’re partnered with Cedarville University in Ohio.”
“Their senior computer science students are helping us on the technology for the education platform.”
“The US has the big tech industry and a lot of the resources that make this sort of project possible.”
PLANS FOR PODCASTS AND REELS
The ministry is openly targeting the youngest generations.
“I think I’ve chosen the two mediums that younger people prefer the most, based on my focus groups and experience.”
“One is the long form podcast. Believe it or not, they love to listen to long audio.”
“There’s also short reels of just 60 seconds, 90 seconds, lots of those going out on TikTok, Instagram and so forth.”
AT THE CRUX: THE EDUCATION PLATFORM
“We are developing something that we think can really help to reach the next generation and establish them in faith and increase their knowledge in very effective ways.”
“And that is really through an education platform.”
Perhaps the best way to think of it is just as education software.”
“It is something for the computer that people can tune into.”
FIRST EDUCATION PROJECT TARGET: HOMESCHOOLING PARENTS
“The first category of people would be the parent who is homeschooling their child.”
“This is increasing right across the Western world by an enormous rate.”
“I think one study shows that there’s over four million home educated students in the United States alone now.
“Australia’s more like between 40 and 50,000, but that’s a lot for Australia. “
“WE CAN HELP CHRISTIAN PARENTS SEE THEIR CHILDREN CONVERTED”
“I think for a Christian parent, they don’t just want good quality and ideologically safe education, but they also want to see their children converted.”
“They want to see them established in their faith.”
“So we feel that we can answer that.”
“They will study the world through the lens of history, or we’re going to say God’s providence, for it is God’s world and all things unfold in his providence.”
THE EDUCATION CURRICULUM
“They can study different regions, people, events, technologies and so forth.”
“They’re going to cover the arts, history, philosophy, languages, so it will be a humanities curriculum.”
“It is AI based. People talked about it as a new technology, but now it’s just being integrated into everything.”
“We are going to have our own AI integrated into this.”
“That enables us to write a curriculum. AI is gonna crunch that curriculum into those resources I described and it’s going to make them age appropriate.”
AI will also be used to customise that curriculum to suit the needs of children who may have conditions such as autism, ADHD and dyslexia
