The funeral for assassinated Christian activist Charlie Kirk was one of the biggest in American history.

73,000 mourners crammed into a stadium in Phoenix, Arizona with more than 100,000 others gathered in surrounding areas and tens of millions watching live coverage around the world.

They heard his widow Erika forgive the gunman who fired the fatal shot and US President Donald Trump declaring that the founder of the conservative movement Turning Point USA was a “martyr who will be remembered by history.”

Nearly all of the Trump Administration’s most senior officials eulogised Charlie Kirk.

“AMERICA HAS BEEN ROBBED OF A GIANT OF HIS GENERATION”

“America is a nation in grief, a nation in shock, and a nation in mourning, which has been robbed of a giant of his generation,” said the president.

“I know I speak for everyone here today when I say that none of us will ever forget Charlie. And neither now will history,” he added.

Speaker after speaker highlighted the 31-year-old Kirk’s profound faith and his strong belief that young conservatives need to get married, have children and pass on their values to keep building their movement.

ERIKA KIRK’S FORGIVENESS FOR HER HUSBAND’S ASSASSIN

Erika Kirk forgave Tyler Robinson, the man accused of taking her husband’s life during a Q&A session on a Utah university campus as part of Charlie Kirk’s America Comeback Tour.

After describing how, “on the cross, our Saviour said: Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do,” she said: “I forgive him,” to rousing applause from mourners.

“I forgive him because it was what Christ did, and is what Charlie would do,” she said.

“The answer to hate is not hate. The answer we know from the Gospel is love, is always love.”

“Love for our enemies and love for those who persecute us.”

HOW CHARLIE KIRK SUBMITTED TO THE WILL OF GOD

Erika Kirk shared how Charlie talked about “his submission to the will of God,” highlighting his reference to Isaiah 6:8:

Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?

And I said, “Here am I. Send me!”

She recalled how she urged her husband to consult with her first before making a statement like that again, warning: “God will take you up on that.”

“And he did with Charlie,” she said, referring to the assassination.

“WE SAW REVIVAL”

“Eleven days ago, God accepted that total surrender from my husband and then called him to His side.”

“More than anything, Charlie wanted to do not his will, but God’s will.”

“And over these past 11 days, through all the pain, never before have I found as much comfort as I now do in the words of our Lord’s Prayer: ‘Thy will be done.’”

Erika Kirk reflected that in the days since the tragedy: “We didn’t see violence, we didn’t see rioting, we didn’t see revolution.”

“Instead, we saw what my husband always prayed he would see in this country:”

“We saw revival.”

“CHARLIE’S GREATEST CAUSE WAS TO REVIVE THE AMERICAN FAMILY”

“This past week, we saw people open a Bible for the first time in a decade.”

“We saw people pray for the first time since they were children.”

“We saw people go to a church service for the first time in their entire lives.”

“The greatest cause in Charlie’s life was trying to revive the American family.”

“When he spoke to young people, he was always eager to tell them about God’s vision for marriage and how if they could just dare to live it out, it would enrich every part of their life in the same way that it enriched ours.”

VICE PRESIDENT CONFESSES HIS NEW CONFIDENCE TO SPEAK ABOUT HIS FAITH

For millions of Americans, Charlie Kirk was a conduit to engaging with and speaking about their Christian faith.

One of those Americans is Vice President J.D. Vance who confessed that until recently he was “a little uncomfortable” talking about his faith in public.

“I have talked more about Jesus Christ in the past two weeks than I have my ENTIRE time in public life,” Mr. Vance said, to a standing ovation.

The vice president said that bringing discussions about Christianity and faith back into national discourse is the legacy of Kirk’s career.

“A RENAISSANCE IS COMING TO AMERICA”

“He loved God, and because he loved God, he wanted to understand God’s creation, and the men and women made in his image,” Mr. Vance continued.

In doing this he brought to the world the “truth that Jesus Christ was the King of Kings.”

Secretary of State Marco Rubio observed that Charlie Kirk “had a very special and direct impact on young men in this country”

“That is one of the greatest developments I’ve seen. That is very positive.”

“A Renaissance is coming to America.”

“CHARLIE WAS A SOLDIER OF FAITH IN A SPIRITUAL WAR”

Secretary of War Pete Hegseth spoke about this spiritual revival and posted: “Charlie Realized This is Not A Political or Cultural War. It is a Spiritual War.”

“He was a citizen who had the Biblical heart of a soldier of the faith, who put on, every single day, the full armour of God with a smile, as the Scriptures tell all Christ followers to do.”

White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller used a famous saying to illustrate what he believes is happening in the wake of the assassination.

“The storm whispers to the warrior that you cannot withstand my strength and the warrior whispers back, ‘I am the storm.’

Mr. Miller said that Erika Kirk, as the new CEO of Turning Point USA, and the countless people who partner with her are the “storm.”

“MILLIONS WILL CARRY ON HIS LEGACY”

To those who despised Charlie Kirk, Stephen Miller made this point: “You thought you could kill Charlie Kirk? You have made him immortal!”

“And now millions will carry on his legacy.”

Donald Trump Jr. highlighted that, despite the media depicting him as a racist or radical extremist, Kirk would still be the one giving the microphone to the very people who would oppose him the most.

“WE ARE ALL CHARLIE”

“When people disagree with us, we don’t silence them. We don’t destroy them, and we certainly don’t sink to violence.”

“We don’t burn down their businesses. We don’t scream at their children at Disneyland.”

“No. We debate. We stand tall and we win with our ideas.”

He proclaimed: “We Are All Charlie’
