The Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF) which helps take the Gospel to the world’s most remote places — is promoting a unique Father’s Day gift for this Sunday.
It suggests that instead of giving their Dad socks and tools — sons and daughters buy a fuel voucher to support the work of the aviation ministry.
Pilot Steven Biggs told Vision Radio the Fuel For Father’s Day vouchers are available on a special MAF website.
“You’ll find a range of cards that we’ve got that you can buy jerry cans.”
BUY FUEL FOR DAD TO DONATE TO AVIATION MINISTRY
“You can buy 50 litres of fuel. You can buy 20 litres of fuel.”
“So instead of buying those socks, you can buy Dad some fuel.”
“That fuel will go in our planes and that will keep us helping people, supporting people who really need our help in isolated communities.”
HOW MAF SAVED A LITTLE GIRL’S LIFE BECAUSE THEY HAD FUEL.
Steven Biggs gave an example of how that fuel saved a four-year-old girl’s life in Timor Leste.
“She was bitten by a snake, right! She’s out in a remote community and there’s no real hospital there, there’s no anti-venom.”
“So she was in a bad way. We were able to get a flight to her and her Dad.”
“Within 20 minutes, we had them in [the capital] Dili and she survived.”
“Being able to buy that fuel enables us to save lives.”
WHAT A GIFT OF FUEL MEANS TO MAF
MAF CEO Chris Barnes told Vision Radio: “This Father’s Day, your gift of fuel can help a Dad in a remote village get his sick child to hospital, deliver a Bible to a community pastor, or bring supplies to a family cut off by flooding.”
“For 80 years, MAF has been serving isolated communities with the love of Christ.”
The ministry operates in over 24 countries worldwide, helping fathers and families who live beyond the reach of roads.
MAF says a gift of fuel this Father’s Day is not only practical — it’s an expression of partnership with Dads across the globe who long to see their families thrive.
